Is Tinychat reliable and user-friendly for group video chats?

I’m thinking about using Tinychat for group video chats. Is it easy to use without lag? How well does it handle moderation and stop scams? Are there still active groups, or is it mostly dead now? Any advice for beginners is welcome.

I’ve never really used Tinychat myself. I saw a lot of ads for it and checked some reviews, but there were too many negative ones, so I decided not to try it. Try Vidizzy, I've been using it for a while and I really like it.

I’ve tried Tinychat for group video chats, and it works fairly well for casual use. It’s easy enough to set up and join rooms, but the interface feels a bit outdated compared to newer platforms. Performance can be hit or miss - if your connection is good, it usually runs fine, but lag and audio/video issues do happen sometimes.

One thing to keep in mind is that moderation tools are pretty basic, so public rooms can sometimes have spam, trolls, or sketchy users. As for activity, there are still active groups, but it depends a lot on the topic - some rooms are busy, while others feel dead.

My advice: it’s decent for casual group chats if you keep your expectations realistic, but if you want a smoother and more polished experience, platforms like Discord or Zoom may feel better.

I used Tinychat quite a bit back when it was more of a classic chatroom website, and in my opinion it’s not what it used to be. The site was originally great because you could jump into different rooms, meet random people from all over, and have real conversations without the whole “dating app” feel.

These days it feels much more limited and less active. Some rooms are still around, but overall the platform seems far quieter than it was in its prime. The interface is easy enough to use, but it feels outdated, and performance can be inconsistent depending on the room and your connection. Moderation also isn’t the strongest, so public rooms can still have spam, trolls, or sketchy users.
